When I first arrived in India I was about as stiff as a Britt's upper lip. Then one day that all changed when a roommate of mine took me to Yoga class at Yoganiketan. But still the first classes were difficult and I was making little progress. Until one day Praveen took me and my 2 roommates under his wing to teach us the ins and outs of Yoga. What started then and there was not only a great yoga journey but also a close and lasting friendship. Praveen is truly a teacher that cares about his pupils and pushes them to strive to be a better person, starting with Yoga.

My name is Stijn van Driessen from Netherland, 25 years old and I am from the Netherlands. In the mid of January 2017 I started a new adventure in Vadodara, India, where I joined Helios Solutions for an internship for six months. Within the first weeks, me and my colleagues Kai and Raoul started to participate in daily yoga classes at Yoganiketan. There we met Marivelly Praveen Goud, our yogateacher and friend. The warm atmosphere, the people and yoga lessons at Yoganiketan were so nice that I immediately felt welcome and part of the society. Therefore, I became more and more enthusiastic about yoga and the corresponding lifestyle. Performing Surya Namaskar was an important part of the daily yoga practices and Praveen taught us how to perform Surya Namaskar in the proper way. After six weeks of practicing yoga and performing Surya Namaskar, we did 108 Sun Salutations together with Praveen and friends. Doing these 108 Surya Namaskar felt really special as I really felt connected to the Indian culture and the friends that I have met so far by means of practicing yoga. This was the start for becoming even more enthusiastic about yoga. In the coming months the daily practices went on in preparation for the big 108 Surya Namaskar event on 20 June 2017. On this day, together with more than 250 people we performed 108 Surya Namaskar, which was the highlight of the whole experience in India. It was such a wonderful experience to perform 108 Sun Salutations together with friends and people from all over Vadodara. The energy and atmosphere during that day was so special as everybody felt connected with each other, because of yoga. Yoga teached me a lot about the life, culture and the people in India and it teached me a lot about life in general, for which I am very grateful. Yoga brought me great friends and life lessons which I will take back home and I am sure that these friends and yoga will also take me back to India in the future. Therefore, I-hope that more and more people get the opportunity to learn the wonderful practise of Surya Namaskar and get connected to yoga.

I had the fortune that I could receive many personal classes and learn a lot from Praveen. Already from the beginning, I observed that he empathizes with each student. For me as a foreigner learning Yoga in India was very special but Praveen helped me a lot to understand the dimensions of Yog. I am really thankful to him. Not only asanas and postures but also breathing patterns are very important in Praveen’s classes. In the meantime, I had several classes with other teachers but I never felt so many positive vibrations as with him. There are just two words left: Thank you!

I had several attempts to discover yoga and spend time with it. however, only thanks to Praveen, my teacher and friend, Yoga has become for me a part of life. Praveen showed me that everything is possible, if you strive and do what you have to do every day. Yoga is a great source of strength, faith and inspiration that you will find in yourself. 108 Surya Namaskar is an extraordinary experience, everyone who plunges into this process never stays the same.

I am Karan Ganatra, an Artist and Yoga Teacher (and practitioner) by profession. I have gained a lot knowledge from Maripelly Praveen since we’ve met. “Apart from teaching Yogasanas and Surya Namaskar and Breathing Techniques, he keeps teaching me the values of life, how to be a better human being and how to excel at everything I do”. He also makes me aim at large things rather than settling for smaller goals in life. The best thing about Praveen sir is that he teaches and spreads knowledge without any expectations of returns. There’s a lot to learn from him and his achievements. Being below 35 years of age if he’s gained so much in his life, I wonder how much is yet to come. My experience of him is in fact a lot more than this write up. I’m grateful to have him as my teacher and “Thank You” would seem very less, yet for now I thank him for all the knowledge he has shared and imparted to me. And I believe this student-teacher relation will continue forever.

I am one of the fortunate one, who got training under Maripelly Praveen. I learnt a lot of asanas, posture, breathing etc. when I joined the 108 Surya Namaskar Challenge in May 2018.The way, you teach micro details you take care of every student is unparalleled. Be the students of 200, you take such a good care of each one that I have observed that unless everybody understands exactly what you have to communicate, you don’t go forward. This makes you an excellent Teacher. Yoga in India is a very common term and you will find plenty of Yoga teachers in almost every part of India but the way you teach is something amazing. We all enjoy doing Yoga and learn a lot everyday from you. Your speech is such a soothing one that we all want to listen more and more from you..

The difficult task of doing 108 Surya Namaskar was made possible and easy by my teacher Maripelly Praveen. Having known him for quite some time as an artist par excellence and a yoga enthusiast, I enrolled for 108 Surya Namaskar. Praveen, a strict disciplinarian, would start class at five in the morning. There were almost 270 people registered in 2017 (the first year when we participated 108 Surya Namaskar together) and almost double the number in 2018(almost 480). The training for the event starts before one month. Praveen along with his teammates put in lot of effort to help all of us with our flexibility, stamina and confidence. There are many things that we have all learnt from him and would stay with us- improving muscle flexibility, abdominal breathing, healthy diet and the most important habit, waking up early. It used to be a beautiful sight to see people from all age groups (12 to 75) practicing together in the wee hours of the morning. Having participated in two 108 Surya Namaskar events, I am looking forward for the next one in 2019.

"One of my friends asked me how many Surya Namaskar you can do? I replied that I can do 108 Surya Namaskar at a go. He said that is impossible for me, I can't do even 10 Surya Namaskar. My situation was same before six months when I started practice of 108 Surya Namaskar under your guidance for the international yoga day event. I completed it with ease with other 460 participants in one-month practice. You gave us that confidence, taught technics of how to do each postures correctly without causing any injuries with the help of micro exercises and correct breathing pattern. Your teaching technics are simple, effective and help to bring our extreme potential. I am feeling very fortunate that I learnt a lot from you and learning is still going on. Thank you very much PRAVEEN SIR.

I recently joined Yoga classes for the first time after meeting Praveen. My first experience was very interesting. Being a sports person, I use to do light workout. However, I felt so different after my first day. Energetic and Refreshing. Praveen was perfect teacher. He made it so easy by proper explanation of the intricacies and peculiarity of each asanas.
